My name is Angela An, and today, I am honored to share with you a dream that has grown stronger with each passing year — my aspiration to become a diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This dream did not appear overnight. It began back in middle school, when I first developed a deep fascination with history. I have spent countless hours exploring ancient civilizations, their cultures, and the events that have shaped the modern world. Through this journey, I came to realize that history is not just a record of the past — it is a guidebook for the future.

Like him, I want to become a diplomat and help protect Korea.

As a diplomat, I hope to represent Korea with both pride and humility. I want to introduce our values and traditions to the world and build bridges of understanding between different cultures.

To prepare for this path, I am actively studying foreign languages such as English and Chinese. But learning a language is only the beginning. True marketing comes from sincerity it’s about creating messages that move people’s hearts.

오늘은 저의 꿈인 마케팅 전문가를 가지고 경영학과, 마케팅 전문가에 대해, 마케팅 전문가라는 꿈을 가지게 된 이유와 미래 제 목표까지 간단히 이야기 해보려고 합니다.

먼저 마케팅 전문가가 되기 전 진로를 향해 가는 첫 번째 발걸음으로 경영학과에 진학하려 합니다. 경영학과에서 경영은 특정한 목적을 달성하기 위해 구성된 조직을 관리하고 운영한다는 뜻입니다. 경영학과에 입학하면 주로 마케팅, 조직ㆍ인사, 생산 관리, 재무 관리 등

That’s what I want to explore today through literature.

My presentation is titled: “Love, Class, and Language – Why We Don’t Say ‘I Love You’ the Same Way.”

This idea came to me while reading The Camellia Flower in my Korean literature class.

The narrator, a rural boy, speaks in a rough but emotional tone.

His way of expressing love is not polished, but very honest and raw.

Later, I read The Great Gatsby, and the phrase “old sport” caught my attention.

It’s not just a nickname – it shows Gatsby’s longing for upper-class identity.

Finally, in Pride and Prejudice, I noticed how characters like Mr. Darcy use polite and indirect language to hide or manage emotions.

That’s when I started asking:

How does the way we speak reflect love and social class?

To explore this question, I compared two works:

The Camellia Flower by Kim Yu-jeong, published in 1936, and

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, published in 1813.

I focused on three things:

the narrator’s point of view, the characters’ speech, and how love and class appear in their words.

I collected important lines, analyzed tone and style, and looked for similarities and differences.

In The Camellia Flower, the narrator is a teenage boy from a rural village.

He uses strong dialect and often speaks directly or emotionally, sometimes shouting out of jealousy.

For example, when he says, “씨암탉이 알을 품겠나!”, he sounds angry, but it’s actually a clumsy way of showing affection.

There’s little awareness of social class—what matters more is how he feels.

In contrast, Pride and Prejudice takes place in a polite, status-conscious society.

Characters express love through careful, subtle, and often ironic speech.

Mr. Darcy famously says, “She is tolerable, but not handsome enough to tempt me.”

Through this project, I realized that language is not just a tool for communication.

It reflects emotion, personality, and our place in society.

Even when two people feel the same thing—like love—they express it differently depending on culture and class.

Korean literature often uses honest, emotional speech.

English literature tends to be more reserved, indirect, and socially aware.

From now on, I’ll pay more attention not only to what characters say,

but also to how they say it—because language carries love, pride, and identity.

This sounds polite on the surface, but actually reveals pride and emotional distance.

So while both texts deal with love, the way it’s spoken reflects very different cultures and class structures.

오늘 저는 문학을 통해 그 차이를 탐구해 보려고 합니다.

제 발표 제목은 “사랑, 계급, 그리고 언어 – 우리는 왜 ‘사랑해’를 똑같이 말하지 않을까”입니다.

이 주제를 떠올리게 된 건 국어 시간에 『동백꽃』을 읽으면서였습니다.

화자인 시골 소년은 거칠지만 감정이 드러나는 말투로 이야기를 합니다.

그의 사랑 표현은 세련되진 않지만 아주 솔직하고 날것 같았죠.

그 무렵 『위대한 개츠비』를 읽으며 “old sport”라는 표현이 단순한 말버릇이 아니라

개츠비가 상류층처럼 보이고 싶어하는 욕망의 상징이라는 점이 인상 깊었습니다.

그때 이런 질문이 들었습니다.

말투는 어떻게 사랑과 계급을 드러낼까?

이 질문을 탐구하기 위해 저는 두 작품을 비교했습니다.

1936년에 발표된 김유정의 『동백꽃』,

그리고 1813년에 발표된 제인 오스틴의 『오만과 편견』입니다.

저는 세 가지에 집중했습니다.

화자의 시점, 인물들의 말투, 그리고 그 말 속에서 사랑과 계급이 어떻게 드러나는가였습니다.

작품 속 중요한 대사를 수집하고, 말투의 어조와 표현 방식을 분석했으며,

두 작품의 공통점과 차이점을 찾아보았습니다.

동백꽃』에서 화자는 시골 마을에 사는 십대 소년입니다.

그는 강한 방언을 쓰고, 감정을 숨기지 않고 직접적으로 말하며 때로는 질투심에 화를 내기도 하죠.

영어 문학은 간접적이고 사회적인 맥락을 고려한 말투가 많다는 것도 알게 되었습니다.

앞으로 문학 작품을 읽을 때는 인물이 ‘무슨 말을 했는가’뿐 아니라

‘어떻게 말했는가’를 더 깊이 있게 바라보고 싶습니다.

왜냐하면 언어에는 사랑과 자존심, 그리고 정체성까지 담겨 있기 때문입니다.

저는 사회복지의 사각지대를 줄이고, 모두가 소외되지 않는 사회를 만드는 사회복지사를 목표로하는 김지우입니다.

제가 사회복지사라는 직업에 관심을 갖게 된 건 중학교 때 뉴스에서 기초생활수급 대상이 아니라고 해서 복지 지원을 받지 못한 채 힘들게 살아가는 한부모 가정의 사연을 본 것이 계기였습니다. 제도를 모르거나, 조금 기준에서 벗어났다는 이유로 아무런 도움을 받지 못한 채 어려움을 겪는 분들이 생각보다 많다는 사실에 큰 충격을 받았고, ‘이런 사람들을 도와주는 사람이 되고 싶다’는 마음이 생겼습니다.

고등학교에 진학한 후에는 소외계층에 대해 조사하며 사회복지에 대한 관심을 더 키워왔습니다. 그 과정에서 복지혜택을 받는 이들은 매우 소수라는 것을 알게되었고 복지는 운이 아니라, 누구나 누릴 수 있는 권리여야 한다는 생각이 더욱 확고해졌습니다.

저는 앞으로 대학에서 사회복지를 전공하며, 단순히 제도에 대해 배우는 것을 넘어서 현장 속에서 사람을 먼저 보는 따뜻한 사회복지사가 되고 싶습니다. 복지 정책이 있어도 그 혜택이 꼭 필요한 사람에게 도달하지 않는다면, 그것은 진짜 복지라고 할 수 없다고 생각합니다. 그래서 저는 복지의 사각지대를 직접 찾아가고, 그분들이 제도 안으로 들어올 수 있도록 돕는 사람이 되고 싶습니다.

누군가의 삶에 작은 희망이 될 수 있다는 믿음으로, 앞으로도 끊임없이 배우고 실천하며 성장해가겠습니다.

I'm Kim Jiwoo, who aims to become a social worker who reduces the blind spot of social welfare and creates a society where not everyone is left out.

The reason I became interested in the job as a social worker was because I saw the story of a single-parent family living a hard life without receiving welfare support in the news in middle school because they were not eligible for basic livelihood support. I was shocked by the fact that there were more people who were struggling without any help because they did not know the system or were a little out of standards, and I felt that I wanted to be a person who helps these people.

After going to high school, I researched about the underprivileged and developed an interest in social welfare. In the process, I found that very few people received welfare benefits, and I became more convinced that welfare should be a right that everyone can enjoy, not luck.

In the future, I want to major in social welfare at university and become a warm social worker who sees people first in the field beyond simply learning about the system. Even if there is a welfare policy, I don't think it can be said to be a real welfare if the benefits do not reach those who really need it. So I want to be a person who goes directly to the blind spots of welfare and helps them come into the system.

With the belief that it can be a small hope in someone's life, I will continue to learn, practice, and grow continuously.

젊은 나이에는 치아우식증에 걸리는 경우가 많은데 치아우식증이란 치아 경조직이 부분적으로 녹아내리는 질병입니다. 이는 주로 섭취한 음식물이 치아에 달라붙어 발효되면서 생기는 산에 의해 발생합니다. 특히, 설탕이 많은 음식을 섭취하면 치아우식증에 걸릴 확률이 높아집니다. 따라서 설탕 섭취량을 줄이려고 노력해야 합니다. 예를 들어 설탕이 많이 들어있는 음식이나 음료를 피하고, 대신에 신선한 과일이나 채소를 간식으로 먹는 것이 좋습니다. 그리고 식사 후에는 양치를 깨끗이 하는 습관을 들여햐 합니다. 그리고 1년에 두번 이상 치과를 방문하는 것이 좋습니다. 치과에서 치아우식증을 조기에 발견하여 치료 받음으로 치아 건강을 유지할 수 있습니다.

저는 치위생과에서 좀더 깊이 있는 공부를 하여

Since talking is a major part of this job, I thought it would be a good fit for me. That’s how I first became interested in becoming a counseling psychologist.

The second reason is the power of healing through words. Many people underestimate the power of words, but in reality, they can have a great impact. I was fascinated by the idea of using this powerful tool to help others in a positive and meaningful way.

Now, let me briefly explain what counseling psychology is.
Counseling psychology is the study of helping people change and grow through counseling based on psychological principles.

Counseling psychologists play three main roles.

“How powerful are international organizations?”

At first, it may seem like these organizations, such as the United Nations or the World Health Organization, have strong global influence. But when we look more closely, we see that their power has both strengths and limits.

International organizations have shown their power through real actions in the world.

Let me share three clear examples.

First, the United Nations (UN) has a Peacekeeping Force that helps maintain stability in conflict areas.

For example, in countries like South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, UN peacekeepers have helped reduce violence and protect civilians. While they are not perfect, their presence often prevents conflicts from getting worse.

Second, the World Health Organization (WHO) plays a critical role in global health.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, WHO gave guidelines on safety, coordinated research, and supported vaccine programs like COVAX.

This helped low-income countries receive vaccines they could not afford on their own.

Even though some governments criticized WHO, it still showed how important global cooperation is during health crises.

Third, the World Trade Organization (WTO) helps manage global trade disputes.

For example, when the U.S. and China had trade disagreements, the WTO acted as a neutral third party to evaluate the conflict and recommend solutions.

Without the WTO, these types of disputes might turn into bigger economic conflicts.

So, these examples show that international organizations can influence the world by promoting peace, supporting health, and managing trade fairly.

However, international organizations also have serious limitations.

First, they do not have direct power to force countries to follow rules.

They can make recommendations or publish reports, but they cannot send troops or arrest people without permission.

For example, when the military in Myanmar took control of the government in 2021, the UN condemned the action.

But since it had no military of its own, it could not physically stop the violence or protect the people.

This shows that moral authority is not enough without enforcement power.

Second, the UN Security Council is often blocked by the veto system.

There are five permanent members: the United States, China, Russia, the United Kingdom, and France.

If any one of these countries uses its veto, a decision cannot move forward—even if all other countries agree.

In 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine, the UN tried to take action.

But Russia used its veto to block any resolution against itself.

This shows that powerful countries can protect themselves, even if they break international rules.

Third, international organizations depend on their member countries for funding and cooperation.

For example, in 2020, the United States under President Trump announced it would withdraw from the WHO and stop funding it.

This created problems for the WHO’s COVID-19 response.

It also showed how easily an organization can become weak if one powerful country pulls out.So, while international organizations have goals and influence, their effectiveness depends heavily on politics, money, and the will of powerful nations.

They can influence, but they cannot always act freely or forcefully.

In conclusion, international organizations are important for peace, cooperation, and solving global problems.

But their power is limited — they can influence, but they cannot control world events.

At first, I thought international organizations had full power to solve world problems. But now I understand that their influence depends on countries working together. This made me realize that global cooperation is the key to stronger international action.

발표를 준비하면서 단순히 글로만 읽던 문학을 말로 표현해 보는 경험이 큰 배움이 되었다. 책 속의 문장 하나를 직접 발음해보고 같은 문장을 영어로 말하고 나니 말투 하나에 담긴 뉘앙스가 훨씬 더 실감 났다. 덕분에 언어는 단순한 소통의 도구가 아니라 사람의 성격과 감정 그리고 사회적 위치까지 담아내는 힘이 있다는 걸 깨달았다.

사회복지사라는 직업에 관심을 갖게 된 계기는 사람들이 시스템을 잘 알지 못하거나 기준에서 조금 벗어나 도움을 받지 못하는 현실을 알게 되면서였습니다. 그중에서도 복지 혜택을 받는 사람이 생각보다 적다는 사실은 저에게 큰 충격으로 다가왔고, 모두가 공정하게 복지를 누릴 수 있어야 한다는 책임감을 느꼈습니다.

2000년대 이후, 우리 사회는 다양한 범죄에 노출되고 있고, 이에 따라 치안과 사회 질서에 대한 관심도 높아지고 있습니다. 저는 그중에서도 청소년 범죄 문제에 관심을 가지게 되었습니다. 처음에는 단순히 '문제를 일으키는 아이들'이라고 생각했지만, 자세히 들여다보면 이들은 가정환경, 학업 스트레스, 외로움, 상처 같은 문제를 안고 살아가고 있었습니다.

그래서 저는 경찰행정학과에 진학해 범죄심리학을 배우고, 청소년 비행의 원인을 이해하고 도와주는 경찰이 되고 싶습니다. 범죄심리학은 범죄자의 심리와 행동을 분석해 재범을 막고, 더 나은 개입 방법을 찾는 학문입니다. 단순히 법으로 다스리는 것이 아니라, 사람을 이해하고, 변화로 이끄는 것이 제 꿈의 핵심입니다.
