I believe advocacy begins with experience. By immersing myself in communities and classrooms, I can better understand the real needs of children and families. From there, I can use digital platforms and social media to spread awareness, share stories, and educate others about the importance of quality and accessible ECE. Small acts of advocacy—such as engaging in conversations, joining organizations, or creating campaigns—can spark greater awareness and eventually lead to stronger support for underserved and marginalized communities.

-Teacher Iyah

I aspire to be a teacher who goes beyond compliance because children deserve more than just the minimum. For me, it’s not enough to simply comply—I want to help raise the standards so children grow in all aspects of their development. While following policies and guidelines is essential to ensure children’s safety and quality learning, I believe my role as an educator is not just to meet the minimum expectations but to actively contribute to creating an environment that nurtures children’s holistic development.

I plan to use these platforms to raise awareness, call for donations, and encourage others to support children’s learning. Even the earnings I get from creating content, I would save and use to donate supplies for early childhood classrooms. In this way, I can use my voice, creativity, and small resources to make education more accessible, especially for underserved communities.

As a pre-service teacher, I want to share what I have learned about the importance of early childhood education, strong policies, and resources in helping children grow well. Early childhood education is the foundation for a child’s future, and without proper support, children cannot fully develop in a nurturing environment. I also recognize that corruption sometimes blocks budget allocation for ECE programs. To help, I propose organizing fundraising activities to encourage donations that will support children’s education and expand access to quality programs nationwide.

If I were to establish my own early childhood school, my non-negotiable will be the presence of the caregivers or the parents. I believe that it is important to have the support from the environment of a child to ensure continuous learning. Moreover, in order to create a nurturing school experience, learning must be introduced in the household. Through this, the importance and benefits of learning can be achieved, making the brighter future of children possible.
