WIRED - Condé Nast Publications

Wired magazine is one of my main competitors solely because they provide readers with similar things that mine does. Both focus on technology news, however mine will also focus on digital art and artists too which will give me an edge in the computer design community as it will provide them with a place to show their work and skills. Mine will also host a competition in every issue which will attract readers more. Another difference is that Wired is a Global magazine with readers in every country, whereas mine is just based in the North East region. This will give me an edge as it allows me to get more personal with my audience as there are less of them. Obviously this means that Wired is more globally recognised, but that doesn't really matter for my magazine. My magazine will also provide with global technology news however it will mainly focus on regional based events. Competing with a larger company is never a good idea, however the differences totally outweigh the similarities so it won't really be direct competition.

T3 - Future PLC

T3 is a technology magazine based in the UK. This means that it's a more direct competitor than WIRED magazine as it's local to the UK, however it caters to the entire UK, unlike mine which is only based in the North East. Like WIRED T3 mainly focuses on just technology, whereas my magazine will incorporate a lot of digital art and images instead of just articles with a few images. T3 is a very successful magazine in the UK, so competing with them will be a difficult thing to do as they have a good reputation in providing news. This magazine also has an incredibly popular website that gains a lot of views and visitors it will also prove difficult to compete with that too.

digital artist - Imagine Publishing

digital artist magazine is a more direct competitor in terms of the art side of my magazine. This is a website that has a magazine that people can subscribe to and they will be sent the latest issue, and they aren't present in stores. This will give my magazine an edge as it will be seen and sold in many stores, unlike the digital artist magazine. Like my magazine, digital artist has a lot of competitions for the readers to enter and try to win. This magazine isn't a very successful one compared to a lot of others as it is only sold online, so I think my magazine will be able to compete with this magazine well.

In conclusion, my magazine doesn't really have any direct competition as there aren't any that mix both technology and digital art, especially in the North East. I think that my magazine will do well in terms of competing with other magazines as it I will provide readers with technology news as well as pieces of digital art and competitions.
