Titanic's flaws

The Titanic was doomed from the start because of this flaw. You see, Olympic-classed ships have a double bottom and 15 watertight bulkhead compartments with electric watertight doors that can be operated at the flip of a switch. So that would make the ship "unsinkable" but the titanic had a flaw that was critical to the reason the ship sank. When the individual bulkheads were watertight, the walls separating the bulkheads only extended a few feet above the water line. So water would fill each compartment one by one. This is the cause and the effect is that the Titanic sank

Titanic setting sail

The titanic set sail on April 10th from Southampton. But when they set sail it had some oddities. There was a small coal fire discovered in one of the bunkers. Stokers hosed down the smoldering coal and shoveled it aside to reach the base of the fire. The captain and chief declared that the fire was not likely to do damage to the hull and to control the fire when they were at sea. Apparently the fire got out of control and was the reason the ship crashed into the iceberg. So the cause would be not fully putting out the fire and the Titanic ran into a iceberg. But they set sail with 2435 passengers and went on its adventure.

The warning ignored

Around one hour before the the titanic hit the iceberg, they got a warning from another boat(The California) they radioed them and told them they were stopped by ice. But this warning was ignored and wasn't a message that needed to be seen by the captain. He thought the warning wasn't important so it was ignored. Another theory is that the captain was sailing to quickly because he was trying to pass the crossing time of the Olympic boat. So the cause was not telling the captain about the iceberg and the effect was the captain was to late to react and started sinking.

On April 14th, after 4 days of rough sailing. They got the reports of ice but she was sailing over calm seas so she probably ignored it. At around 11:30pm a lookout saw a iceberg coming out of the slight haze dead ahead, then they rang the warning bell and telephoned the bridge. The engines were quickly reversed and took a sharp turn. The Titanic's side was grazed on the side of the Iceberg. The lookouts thought there was no damage done. By the time they checked out the damage, five compartments were already filled with water.

After a little more than an hour after contacting the iceberg, the first lifeboat was put down. It was designed to hold 65 people but it left with only 28 on board. During the chaos on the Titanic, nearly all of the boats left under-filled or only a handful of people. There was also a law where women and children boarded the boat first and men were only aloud to board after there was no women or children around. The titanic stayed afloat for 3 hours. In the end, only 706 people survived the Titanic.

The Titanic started sinking and it split in half before in was fully underwater. Many people had to leave their family behind in order to survive and some people regret going on the lifeboat and was hard for them to live with the guilt. Isidor Straus refused to sit down on any lifeboat and his wife, Ida would not leave her husband so they went to their cabin and perished together. Molly Brown helped load the Lifeboats and was forced to be one of the last ones to leave. The Titanic, almost perpendicular and with many lights still aglow, finally the Titanic dove below the surface at about 2:20am on April 15th 1912.

The Titanic now is in the sea and is slowly disappearing. There is a lot of theories of what caused the ship to sink but none have been proven to be true. 1500 people died in the freezing cold water and the rest of them survived. The doomed ship was found 13,000ft below the surface.
