Uruguayan writer who was best known for his poems and short story and his reputation had spread around of the world because his books were being published in twenty languages. He is considered one of Latin America's most important 20th-century writers. He was a  intellectual , journalist, novelist, and poet. 
My favorite poem is Don’t give up , bellow there is the first strophe:

you still have time to reach up and start anew,
