The theme of "Cheyenne Again" is remembering the past. I believe this because on paragraph 14 to 17, or also known as the last four paragraphs state," Never forget that you are an Indian inside. Don't let us take your memories." and," Our world is changing fast. We all must change." This shows that a teacher does not want Young Bull to forget his Indian within, or Indian memories. Another way that the theme of Cheyenne Again is memories is that Young Bull accepts the United State's ways after learning they can't take his memories. He was writing what he thought was one of his memories in a scene in his notebook. He snips the "wire" and feels his memories are free. As you can see, the theme of Cheyenne Again is to remember the past.

A another reason y I believe that the theme of Cheyenne Again is heritage is because in paragraphs #16 thru #18 it sais that the boy imagines and draws about him being Cheyenne again.

I can prove this because during the beginning of the story it tells about the man who counts and taking man taking young bull to a Native American school. Then it tells about him getting his hair cut of and learning what they learn at the school. Then it tells about young bull running away from the school to get his culture back then getting a ball and chain around his ankle for a day. Then his Teacher tells him to never forget his culture .Finally, he draws a picture of the Cheyenne tribe and pretends he is Cheyenne again .That proves that the theme is never forget your culture because he saved his culture the full story. As you can see the theme is never lose your culture.

A) The theme of Cheyenne Again is sacrifice. I can believe this, because in beginning of the article, it says that a person known as the "Taking Man" and a Policeman come take him. The parents let him because, they were running out of food. Then, they take him onto a train where he is taken to a school. Another reason that supports my statement is when the author states, "They take away my buckskins and my shirt. The deerskin moccasins my mother made. They cut my braids, give me uniform of scratchy wool.". The last statement that supports my reasoning is when the author states, "No more Cheyenne. they say. You have lost nothing of value. You will be like us.". As you can see, there are many reasons about why I chose the theme as sacrifice.

A.) The theme for "Cheyenne Again" is culture. I prove this in the whole story because in the beginning young bull did not want to go to the school so he wouldn't forget his own life style. But he had to go for his own good . so he had to go and a part of his culture is his clothing. On paragraph 5 and 6 states "They take my buckskins and my shirt. The deerskin moccasins my mother made. They cut my braids, give me a uniform of scratchy wool. the color of an ashen sky. With buttons to the neck. No more Cheyenne, they say. You have lost nothing of value. You will be like us." Once again I say that the theme for "Cheyenne Again" is Culture. And to never let any one take over your culture.

#28 The theme of the story of," Cheyenne Again" Is heritage. I can prove this because, Young bull, ( The little Native Boy,) does not want to loose his tribe. For example, it states ," And in my mind, the warriors and I ride side by side across the Golden Plain. Cheyenne Again." This tells me, even thought the Government Of U- SA is trying hard to change his way of life, also the religion and the culture , he would always still remember his tribe, no matter what. He dos not want to loose it, because that is who he is. He will always keep it.This is why I think the moral of the lesson is Heritage.

I can prove that it's heritage because heritage means memories and on paragraph 17 a nice teacher states "Never forget that you are indian inside. Don't let us take your memories." So she said "Never forget your culture."

I agree with that # , because, when the government tried to change the culture. He still kept his memories of his tribe. That is why I believe that Memories can be also a good moral of the lesson.( Because he tried to keep the memories. Not just give it away and loose it.) This is why I agree with #21.

Giving up is the exact opposite of perseverance. He gave up and in the story, never tried again. He would almost give up his culture. Until one teacher told him to never forget his culture. I can also prove this because , the author states, "And in my mind the warriors and I ride side by side across the golden plain." This tells me even the government from the 1880s wants to change Young Bull's life. The government of 1880s might even want to change his religion and his culture. But Young Bull will always be a Cheyenne. This is why I think a theme for " Cheyenne Again" would also be the theme Heritage.
