Main Characters:
  • Jane - a fresh girl who looks to take a different approach on life. She constantly argues with her mom's traditionalist views.
  • Jane's Mom - a single mother working to make ends meet
  • Margaret - Jane's aunt and mentor who looks to help fuel the fire in Jane.

Jane's mother has lost one of her three jobs. Every job matters and now Jane's mother can't afford to care for Jane. Jane's mother, Mrs. Marin, sends Jane to live with her aunt.

After settling in with her aunt, Jane realizes that there is a world besides her house and the public charter school that she previously went to.

Life is hard, away from her mother's bubble, but she preserves and finds a way to fit in with her new life.
