Women say things as an attempt to seek acceptance and conformation. They think that if the way they talk is biased towards a more positive or predictive answer, the more educated and confident she seems. This differs from men, because they typically speak with a more commanding speech pattern. They are straight forward, using statements more often than questions. For example, while a woman might ask, "Will you please close the door?" a man would say, "Close the door." In this case, the woman is more polite than the man. However, men have always been favored, or in possession of more power. As a result, the lesser group, aka the women, are adopting the mans language.
