Amicus Brief Summary

I am writing an amicus brief about why Roe v. Wade should be protected and why it should not have been overturned by the supreme court. In my amicus brief, I will go over many factors that contribute to my stance on roving weight being necessary. I will be talking about the initial court case itself and the public health benefits of access to abortions. The government lifting protections on abortions disproportionately affects people of color and leads to widespread health issues. My audience is people that are against Roe v. Wade and people that are undecided on their position on this topic. I’m going to convince my audience that access to abortion must be protected by giving data that shows the efficacy of abortion in a medical setting. With access to abortion no longer being protected some women will have to travel across state lines in order to get an abortion. This doesn’t mean that there will be fewer abortions. It will result in more non-clinical and self-performed abortions being done. This is very dangerous and abortion should be performed under the supervision of medical professionals. Also, the removal of abortion protections will dish proportionately affect people of color and low-income people. These are the people that cannot afford to go out of state to get an abortion and well in some cases opt to do it themselves which has medical risks and consequences. Another factor is that Roe v. Wade was generally supported by the public and the supreme court's decision went against the public interest.
