What is it ?

The spreading of information twisted to the person's, group's, nation's advantage. These ads, movies, songs, etc that are shown to the public, are meant to change or support a point of view on something. In this case the Creel committee was created by presindent Woodrow Wilson to make propaganda encouraging Americans to support WW1.

How did it apply to us?

90% of Americans opposed going into the war and with the help of propaganda the statistics turned into 90% of Americans supporting the entry of the war. They used songs such as "Over There"
(https://youtu.be/B6hRDS3LvQQ) to encourage civilians to enlist in the army and help fight the war "over there". The song describes how if they went "over there" that there parents and wife would be proud. This helped them complete there goal of getting soldiers to fight in the war. It also helped shield the seriousness of the war, one of their main goals.

What is it?

The Zimmermann Telegram was a secret diplomatic message to Mexico sent by the Germans. In the message, there was a clear set of instructions for Mexico. The Mexicans were suppose to invade the United States, and annex ¨lost territory" within Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

How did it apply to us?

The message was suppose to be sent to Mexico, but was successfully decoded in by British cryptographers. The British held onto the message, until President Wilson received it on February 26. That was the same day Wilson proposed that the military starts to arm its ships against Germans. On March 1st, copies of the Telegram were published in newspapers. American opinion now swung towards the entrance of WWI.

The Russian Revolution was two revolutions in Russia, the first revolution overthrew the Imperial Government and the second revolution placed the Bolsheviks (Also known as the Communist Party). The first of the revolutions also known as the February Revolution an uprising by the people was cause by scarcity of food in Petrograd and Russia's involvement in World War I which sustained casualties more than any nation in any previous war because the Imperial Russia was no match for Industrialized Germany. The major outcome of the February Revolution was the abdication of Czar Nicholas II and the end of the 300 year House Of Romanov rule over Russia.

The second revolution also known as the Bolshevik Revolution and the October Revolution was lead by Vladimir Lenin. After the February Revolution power in Russia was shared by the weak provisional government and the Petrograd Soviet . On November 6th and 7th 1917 leftist revolutionaries led by Bolshevik Party leader Lenin performed a coup d’état against the government in which the Bolshevik's took up important positions in the city (main telephone and telegraph offices, railroad stations, bridges, banks, and important bridges). Provisional guards that had hear of the coup surrendered without a fight and by the next day (November 7th) the Bolsheviks had control of every key building in Petrograd was in Bolshevik control except the Winter Palace where Alexander Kerensky was (Minister Of Justice). He later left the palace by car never returning to Russia. After they had full control of Petrograd they formed a new government led by Vladimir Lenin. It was the first Marxist country in the world.

How did it apply to us:
The effects of the Russian Revolution are immense and permanent, it brought about the Soviet Union which led to the Cold War. And led to a communist way of thinking that other countries adopted such as North Korea and China. The Russian Revolution was arguably the most important event of the 20th century.
