I have used black and white at points throughout my video as I believe that it fits the old fashioned themes really well, I have also used it to suit the less lively parts of the videos and to contrast the events that happen as the beat drops. This is because on these drops it goes to full colour, showing how the tone and mood of the video has changed.
I think the black and white sections of the videos is a great addition as the bright colours may contrast and clash with other visual aspects throughout my music video, so the audience can focus purely on what is happening throughout these black and white episodes. However, if I used it for the whole video, the video would be boring and look effortless, hence why I have decided to add vibrance and alter the colours during intense parts of the video in order to keep the audience engaged when they need to be (when its crucial to the plot).
My music video has changed quite a bit compared to my original ideas (the storyboard). One of the reasons behind these changes is the the fact that some areas of Reigate simply weren't compatible with what I originally had planned, such as the character walking between buildings in an alleyway, as the actual alleyway in Reigate was nowhere near what I would've liked to use during my shoot.
A second example of one of my changed ideas is filming the characters walking through the park instead of just showing the feet as they are walking down the high street. I did this as I do not believe that the feet walking would have given the audience enough of an idea of when the video was set, and that the full outfits being shown would give them the clear image that I intended.
I have had the idea of a couple of close ups of characters holding money in order to show the audience their facial expressions and to show the old money theme once again, without taking too much out of the story line. I also have used these close ups I thought of to use in the cross cutting scenes to show the contrast between the two characters before they meet.
I decided to start reversing some of my previous shots towards the end of my music video as I believe it adds a unique aspect to my music video, as well as the fact that I changed the story line in order to make it more entertaining, so we didn't have the shots for it and I had to improvise.
In addition to all of these, I have also used continuity and non continuity scenes in my music video. I have done this through the previously mentioned flashbacks and cross cutting for the non continuity, and the journey towards finding the suitcase for the continuity part, as I believe that part is much easier for the viewers to find out what is happening due to its simplicity and how straightforward it is.
In conclusion, I believe that I have made a lot of correct decisions throughout my music video and used a mix of continuity and non continuity in order to provide a visually pleasing video, as long as a nice story line for the viewers. I think that I have used a good array of effects and transitions that suit the theme of my video, and am pretty satisfied overall with how it turned out.
