The witch swings the statue again and hits above my right ear, smashing my skull. She suffers from the accident were she was found in the water. She suffers physical and mentally. Two years after the accident she is back on the island to try to remeber what had happend.

The narrative`s point of views is in first-person.
The narrator has a very direct tone, no hesitation.
The narrative does not seem like a mad person. Just casual, but the way she is very direct with her words can make it seem passive agressive. Pretty straight forward. The way the narrator writes makes it more realistic, there is no beating around the bush. It also makes the readers feel a deeper connection to the book and characters. It also makes the story more personal again building a connection with the characters.

These are the themes because the book writes about the sinclair family of a higher class. And character named Gat shows a contrast between social class. In this book we read about a rich family, living in big houses with their own private island with servents working for them. A lot of the times we hear about the value of stuff the characters own, they are all extremly privliged. Gat on the other hand is not a family member and he is the only one who talks about poverty. He comes from India and have seen how poverty affects the people. One night he says: How can we say land belongs to anyone? but his statement is rejected by Johnny and Mirren. Gat proceeds "Maybe land shouldnt belong to people at all. Or maybe there should be lmits on what they can own." He talks about an experience he had in India on a volunteer trip, when they were building toilets because the people in the village didnt have them. Johnny answers "We all know you went to India, you told us like 47 times" Which indicates that they arent interested in poverty. Gat ignores Johnny and keeps on talking "Im saying we should talk about it. Not everyone has private islands. Some people work on them. Some work in factories. Some dont have work." Some dont have food. Mirren and Cadence tells him to shut up.

Dear diary

Oh my God! Johnny and the rest of them are all so uneducated. They only talk about superficial things, not the things that really matters. Their opinions suck. johnny is so stupid, “can we talk about sex or murder?” he does not want to talk about the real problems in the world. He is so privileged and selfish. There are people dying of hunger, while he is over here not wanting to face the reality. He annoys me so much, everything he says is annoying. Here we are talking about how our granddad is owning this island and how we are going to tell people about it. Johnny is not taking this as seriously as me and Carrie. Carrie is probably the only one I like now, because we agree on certain levels. However, Carrie is also uneducated and doesn’t stand up for herself. I am sick of them, why am I even surrounding myself with them?
