Writing Moderation

I took part in an FS1 writing moderation with the FS1 team. We compared and validated our assessments to ensure our data was accurate.

I also took part in a staff meeting with Lower School where we looked at a range of writing examples from FS1-Yr2 which was very insightful. We collaborated together to ensure consistency in assessment judgements.

Values in Practice

Training with Louise Horkan and Charlotte Harvey on WIS values. I collaborated with FS colleagues and we contributed towards a group Padlet. We discussed evidence of how the WIS Values could be seen in our classrooms. I feel as a new member of WIS, it helped me understand the values better. I also feel they are evident in my classroom and daily practice.

Outdoor Learning PD

Took part in Outdoor Learning training with Vicky Hillier. I then worked with Amy Hesketh and two LA's to organise the area and label it in order for it to be organised and accessible for the children. It is now a well used area by the children and lots of effective learning takes place.

Attended a very useful safeguarding session which addressed topics such as AI and affluency and their relation to safeguarding. From the session I gained the following:

Reviewed the impact of Safeguarding measures throughout Term 1
Further developed my understanding of whole school safeguarding practice:
- through the quality of Guard logs recorded
- by raising my awareness of affluent neglect.

Stay and Play - FS1 New Starters

On Saturday 24th of February, new parents and students visited FS for a short play session. Myself and colleagues stayed to observe and complete assessments for all of the children. I developed my knowledge/understanding of different developmental stages. We used a new format which was very useful in alerting us to any extra needs and gave us a good understanding of children's levels in learning.

Feedback - Inspection

After November's DSIB/KHDA's inspection, FS received positive feedback about lessons and learning environments. Inspectors were very pleased overall about the high quality of teaching and learning. I was observed in Understanding the World and phonics. The inspectors commented after the lesson that they had learnt a lot.
