         <description><![CDATA[<div>Because there are multiple kinds to remember and understand instead of one specific formula (at least with secondary dominants you can explain the consistent principle by which they work). Students have to know key signatures and chords really well already to make any sense of Aug6 chords, let alone ID and use them fluently. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I would have a very difficult time explaining to students why certain scale degrees have certain "roles" in harmony. It's easy enough to say that "1 is tonic, 5 is dominant, etc" but answering why that is the case is tricky. I was never taught it in depth myself, would be difficult for me to come up with my own explaination.</div>]]></description>

They often get frustrated with following a set of rules for assignments that the music that they play in their lessons does not follow as strictly.
