After working for his master he managed to save enough money to buy his freedom only to have it taken away. He then had to earn all of his savings back, bought his freedom, and became a wealthy owner of a laundromat in North Carolina. We included him because he showed perseverance, strength, and humbleness by still reaching out and helping his community despite his recent hardships.

Alpha Phi Alpha was the first all African Fraternity in 1906. It was used as a major support system against discrimination and helped usher in a sense of safety. We included this in because it was a huge first step for African Americans who wanted to attend colleges/ universities as well as well as help the movement of racial equality among the student body

Using those 3 sources

he managed to create over 400 products to help assist in every day culture

including soap, stamp glue, and cosmetics. He also managed to help the South

Migrate from its Cotton Independence and helped to enrich the cotton worn soil

by having farmers focus on growing those 3 items.

Famous African Female poet whose most noted work was poems on miscellaneous subjects published in 1854. She was also highly devoted to the Tern Perance movement and did everything she could to assist it. We included her because her poems/ literature helped remove another brick in the wall blocking Africans from racial equality. Her involvement in the Tern Perance movement was also very influencial and well recognized.

The Exodusters was a group of African Americans led by Henery Adams

and Ben Singleton who left the South and migrated towards Kansas in search of the

Promise Land; due to high levels of racism and poverty in their previous

residence. They felt as though the only way to achieve true racial equality

was to set up separate communities for African families and friends. We included

them because they took it upon themselves to improve their own living conditions,

as well as elevate the status of African Americans throughout American Culture.
