         <description><![CDATA[<div><br></div><div>1<strong>. What's the main point of the article?</strong></div><div>The main point of the article is to compare the way in which global and local languages are taught and how that is managed into the classrooms, considering different methods and teachers’ manners. The article is primarily centered on how the instruction of  Mapudungún, its culture, and how the language has been taken into consideration regarding its inclusion in the Chilean educational system differs from the instruction of English within the same context. Additionally, this article also considers the different insights people have about those languages and how it affects students  motivations to learn them.<br><br><strong>2. What's something you found interesting?</strong><br>We found interesting the fact that, as demonstrated in the article the instruction of Mapudungun focuses on communicative skills and pay special attention to the comprehension of the target culture students can achieve, the interviewed teacher even suggests that it would be beneficial to include people from mapuche community during the lessons so the culture and its meaning is more suitable, while English classes, at least in Chile, focus more on the understanding of the English structures with little or no emphasis on communicative skills. <br><br>3<strong>. What are you finding difficult to understand?</strong></div><div>The article explained in detail every step of the study case, therefore there were no doubts or difficulties in understanding the information presented and the point this information wanted to address. <br><br><strong>4. What would you like to discuss about the article in our next session?</strong></div><div>Considering what the article exposes, we as future teachers would like to discuss firstly, why teachers keep using the mother tongue of students when the goal is that they become communicatively competent in the target language. Secondly, why Mapuche’s culture is only given importance in some regions and not throughout the country and finally, how much importance is being given to the training of teachers of mapudungun, considering that, as the article states, they were not as prepared as expected to be language teachers.</div>]]></description>
