         <description><![CDATA[<div>This statement assumes that 3rd grade reading scores correlate/lead to prison and ignore all other factors (race, neighborhood, socioeconomics, etc) and uses a deficit mindset rather than growth. Not only this, but then this can lead to over policing as certain areas might then expect crime rather than the more likely of community without it. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Seeing as many prisons are operated at "for profit" it would be extremely problematic to use reading scores of third graders as an indicator of future incarceration rates. For one its just wrong as they are just kids. Two, it implies an incentive for those who have a financial stake in the prison industry to root for our education system to fail our students. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>If prison planners are using 3rd grade reading scores (I don't know where the data is coming from for the politicians and journalists) then they are predicting children's future which seems a lot more unpredictable than something like flight tickets. They are also reinforcing the school to prison pipeline by planning when students are only 8 years old. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Disability Implicit Bias Test</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1) My key takeaway is that the test showed that I have an automatic moderate preference for abled people compared to disabled people, which is true of 27% of people who take the test.&nbsp; I need to learn more about disability justice.<br>2) This relates to my life in so many ways.&nbsp; I have many people in my life (including myself) with disabilities yet the test is still showing an implicit bias.<br>3) It relates to my teaching because I am responsible for creating an inclusive, supportive, and productive classroom environment for all of my students.  I need to be actively working to address my implicit biases.</div>]]></description>
