When Eden was raped at fourteen years old it shocked me that someone could do that to a little girl. It shed light on the reality of those victimized by rape and how they struggle day to day with it. It opened my eyes to the realness of the situation and made me realize things like that happen every day to young women. While I do not agree with some of the choices Eden made like her shutting every one out and sleeping with random guys, it was her way of coping. In the end through the help of a very good friend she finally admits to being raped and admits to who did it. She even went to the police and told them everything that happened. I think now she should try her hardest to live her life and be who she truly is.

The genre of this book is fiction and a memoir. This book is not based on a real life event but it shows that rape is a very real thing that happens and how one girl deals with it. Eden describes her life before, during, and after the rape. She tells how that event changed her and the decisions she made because of it. She goes through her four years of high school and describes how each year unfolds.
" I close my eyes again, but it's all I can see, all I can hear: his skin, his arms, his legs. his hands too strong, his breath on me, muscles stretching, bones cracking, body breaking, me getting weaker, fading." (Smith 2)
