In his point of view it is social; psychosocial stages and not psychosexual stages. What is interesting is that they both know that these stages regardless of which theory you look at start at birth.

1. Trust vs Mistrust 
Is the very first pyschosocial stage; it is developed during infancy and helps shape the expectations and mind-set of the person for the rest of their lives in the real world and in personal and professional relationships .

2. Autonomy Vs Shame & Doubt 
( 12months to 3 years old)
After a child is comfortable with the regular settings and their caregivers they begin to shift their focus and their curious minds start to behave differently and therefore the children behave differently too. They start to feel more and more comfortable about themselves and behave differently. They discover reactions or effects of their behaviors. At this same stage parents learn more about their toddlers and how the to correct or improve certain behaviors . The way certain behaviors are approached and correct either negatively, with yelling and making the child feel bad or positively correcting without making the child feel bad and have long term affects in life.

3. Initiative vs Guilt
By this stage , as Erikson believes the children now believe with them in their own person. They now believe in what they truly are and will continue to grow up. Because parents are the the first and one of the most important people in a child's life, children tend to compare or try to be just like mom and dad. At such an early age, children have tons of energy and can easily develop habits and maybe even forget some and develop new ones.
