As a student, I graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2010 with a BEd (Senior Phase degree). I then went on to study 2 Honours through UNISA specialising in Educational Management and Mathematics.

It has been a life long journey of mine to continue to sharpen the sword of my mind. A dull blade cannot cut, and therefore cannot be used. I seek to always extend myself, both in my studies and in my personal life, so that I may continue to grow as an educator and a person.

My favourite idea is the one of "failing forward". Learning that we will make  mistakes and 

and accepting them allows us to make critical changes in our life that may assist us in achieving our goals.

My name is Elizma and I am a Mathematics teacher in Centurion, Pretoria. I have been teaching for five years and I’m loving every second of it.

I studied a diploma in horticulture as well as a B.Ed in Maths and Science (FET). Currently I teach Gr. 8-12 Physical Sciences as well as Further Studies Physics for Gr. 11-12 and Mathematics Gr. 8. 

I have been an educator for 19 years. In this time I worked in a variety of school, stretching from an Afrikaans technical high school to a private Muslim school and an IEB school in Phokeng. In the time I worked at Lebobe College in Phokeng the school grew from a tiny school with prefab buildings for about 300 learners to a brand-new modern school in an architecturally designed building for about 1000 learners. 

Currently I work at Eduplex High School where our vision is to make a difference in deaf education. We are an IEB mainstream school, with the inclusion of learners with a hearing loss. All our deaf learners wear hearing aid and/or cochlear implants. Alongside our school we have an audiology department who supports us and who, especially for the younger learners, help with speech and language development. The audiology department is also a training institute who offer programmes to train educators and parents on how to support, teach and communicate to learners with a hearing loss. 

Our owners and founders own the Ear institutes across South Africa. To make a difference in deaf education is very important to them. Their hope is to educate deaf learners in such a manner that they can function and communicate with others in their work environments one day.

My favourite motto is:

My motto in life is simple, “THE WAY I SEE IT, IF YOU WANT THE RAINBOW, YOU GOTTA PUT UP WITH THE RAIN” by DOLLY PARTON.

 

With my teaching experience at multicultural schools, I have experienced deep fulfillment, as I deeply have a passion to learn and understand different cultures, because I believe with understanding comes great knowledge (We can all learn something from each other). I have a positive outlook on everything I see and do. I am also very energetic and love to experience different things. I’m a hard worker with a strong mindset and believe if you really want something in life, you should go for it, with good motivation from within.

I received my learning opportunity later in life but I have enjoyed every minute of it. I completed my degree in FP last year with Stadio. This increditible experience motivated me to continue with my Honours this year.

My name is Yajna. I come from the small town of Ladysmith in KZN. I have completed my bachelor’s degree in education specialising in the intermediate and senior phase. I am currently in my second year of teaching and absolutely love it, my students make every day interesting and different. I enjoy interacting with all ages and I am a social and outgoing person.  I am looking forward to the academic journey ahead as well as meeting all you new and wonderful people.

Hi. My name is Selina Puleng Moloi. You can call me Selina it is fine. I am a teacher at the Intermediate school in Qwaqwa. I am here to continue my learning journey as a teacher and hopeful attain more knowledge and experiences from the lectures and engage well with classmates.

 

After graduating with a BA (Health and Social Services) in Counselling Psychology, I developed a passion for education. In 2017, I began my studies for a PGCE in Intermediate and Senior. I then decided to broaden my knowledge and pursued a Bachelor of Honours degree in Psychology. I just finished a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration.

I'm not particularly interested in becoming a teacher. My sole motivation for pursuing honors in Inclusive Education is to learn about and comprehend the concept. With this degree, I hope to work in the Department of Education as a policymaker or curriculum worker. Education is not a one-size-fits-all proposition. In the development of material, educational planning, training, and supervision of educational material, we desperately need people who have been trained and understand Inclusive Education. I believe that with the experience gained from all of my qualifications and the competencies I hope to gain from this course, I will be able to improve the implementation of inclusive education, as inclusive education still faces many implementation challenges.
