         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Macro photography is the use of special lenses and lens adapters to capture photographs of subjects that are highly magnified.</li><li>Macro lenses differ from other types of camera lenses because they are designed with a very short focal length. this allows the camera to get extremely close to a subject, filling the frame with extreme detail.</li><li>A 1:1 macro lens refers to the ratio that the subject is projected onto the image sensor at. A 1:1 ratio means that the subject is as detailed as it can possibly be using that lens, as it cannot focus at a closer distance. The only way to achieve more magnification would be to use 'extension tubes'.</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The images below were all photographed in the studio using a Nikon D5300 mounted on a copy stand. The lens used was a Nikkor 105mm macro lens. I used extension tubes to further magnify the subject, starting with all three tubes on at once and working my way to just the lens. The lens was always fixed to 1:1.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Below are some photos that show the setup that I used to achieve my macro shots. I used the same setup for both of my subjects in the studio, so I will just include one set of setup photos.<br>The purpose of extension tubes is to add extra magnification to a cameras lens. Extension tubes go in between the camera and the lens, increasing the distance that the lens sits from the image sensor. A trade off that this creates is that less light passes through the lens. Because of this, extension tubes require large amounts of light or long shutter speeds to be able to photograph a subject.</div>]]></description>
