Within the feminization of teaching has led to the sexism within the teaching profession. There is still the idea, a generational influenced idea, that teaching in a classroom is closer to child rearing--a traditionally female thing (citing maternal instinct)--and superintendant type jobs are more authoritative. In correlation to the influence of the gender display in leadership within education today, men still feel the importance or superiority that they need to be leaders and maintain control over something. So looking in the education field that control over something is being the leader and director of a school or school board, so men feel more inclined to gain control over a school building or district rather than just a classroom, because their impacts are seen more than just inside a classroom.
