The author creates herself as the main character, CeCe, a deaf-bunny who is very self conscious about her disability and desparately trying to find ways to fit in with other kids. CeCe combines humor and real emotions from true life experiences that provide more context about being deaf. By presenting that context through humorous and realistic situations, Bell helps the hearing get a better perspective of life as a deaf person.
