The speaker in this song is Brendon Urie, and he made this song, and this entire album, in response to his marriage with Sarah Orzechowski. This song was also heavily inspired by Frank Sinatra; it would have been Frank Sinatra's 100th birthday the year that Brendon Urie released "Death of a Bachelor. "

The audience is Brendon Urie himself as he is talking about his marriage and the death of his inner bachelor. He is describing the changes he has to go through and what has happened to his life as a bachelor as a result of his marriage.

Urie uses his lyrics to effectively convey his thought and feelings about his life, mainly his transition from a bachelor to a married man. He is sad to see his time as a bachelor come to an end, but is excited to live a fulfilling married life knowing that he will always have someone beside him. The video is effective at showing how sad of a time this is for Urie. It is able to depict the end of his bachelor life as a somber moment that will be cherished. Overall, Urie made effective use of his lyrics and video to make the "death of a bachelor" a sad moment that will have its upsides.

Urie uses pathos most often in this song. He first uses pathos in line 11, "Letting the water fall." The water that Urie is referencing are his tears; he is letting his tears fall. The next time we see pathos is in line 15, "Happily ever after." Urie is saying that he is bound for a happy life, if the bachelor side of him dies. The next and final use of pathos is in lines 20-24, "Feels like my heart is going to burst/ Alone at a table for two and I just wanna be served/ And when you think of me am I the best you've ever had?/ Share one more drink with me, smile even though you're sad/ I'm walking the long road, watching the sky fall." Urie feels like his heart is about to explode in his chest. He is also sitting all by himself at a table that was meant for two people; showing how lonely the bachelor life is. When Urie is having a drink with someone, he is asking them to smile even if they are not having a good time with him.

The first seven lines of Death of a Bachelor are all ethos. "Do I look lonely?/ I see the shadows on my face/ People have told me I don't look the same/ Maybe I lost weight/ I'm playing hooky with the best of the best/ Put my heart on my chest so that you can see it, too/ I'm walking the long road, watching the sky fall" These lines are what Brendon Urie uses when establishing who he is and what other people think/see of him.

There are few lines that are logos. The first line that is logos is the eighth line "The lace in your dress tingles my neck." Brendon Urie is is saying that the lace of his wife's wedding dress is going around his neck. The lace is choking the bachelor side of Urie, signifying the death of Urie as a bachelor. "A lifetime of laughter/ At the expense of the death of a bachelor." Here, Urie is stating that he can get a "lifetime of laughter," Or a fulfilling married life, if he is willing to give up the bachelor lifestyle.
