Do not maintain same social order as males, they are considered lower, and make little, if any income for the family .

They do have little to no say in decisions of the family, other than caring for children.

Dad is the 'lead' of the house, and earn primary source of income. Females earn little,

if any of the income.

Way of Living

Houses are small, and the mattresses are stored in cupboards. Families all bathe in the same water because it is their tradition. It is common in Japan for three generations to live under one roof.
