This portfolio project has helped me gain a better knowledge of how the performing arts can be effective means of fostering emotional expression, cultural appreciation, and inclusivity in early childhood settings.

I found that facilitating music and movement events is where I feel most comfortable. I am at ease utilising body percussion, voice, and rhythm to engage all students, including those from varied ethnic and multilingual backgrounds. Additionally, I became aware of the powerful influence multicultural theatre and music can have on children's sense of belonging and worth.

However, I am aware that I need to improve in order to lead dramatic and visual arts experiences that go beyond simple exercises. I want to have more self-assurance when it comes to incorporating improvisation, narrative, and more introspective creative play into my lessons.

The potential for weaving these things together is what really intrigues me. For example, music promotes social bonding and coordination, while dance and theatre help language. Children with special disabilities can also participate in these creative forms by using nonverbal communication.

I will use my portfolio as a toolset for my upcoming classes. It has motivated me to organise culturally sensitive arts instruction for young students in a more deliberate and inclusive manner.
