Who: In a group of five students, each will be good in an area - English, Mathematics, Science, Art (ASEM) and the team is free to nominate/decide who the leader is
What: Leader to write about the space race. Each member to write on their individual contributions to the project work e.g. Math rep to write about how he/she creates a clinometer in gauging the height reached by the air rocket, Science rep to write about the amount of fuel (water) is required to drive the air rocket as high as possible, etc. Each group creates an air rocket, which has an egg as a load, and some parts of it to be 3D-printed. Each group is also to do an oral presentation.
Where: Desert for the testing and launching
When: A 10-week timeline, from ideation, to making, to testing and presentation
How: Using plastic bottles, doing 3D printing of the nose cone and the fins

Context of PBL

The reason why the space race is chosen is because of the Saudi Arabia 2030 vision. For our context, we could choose a theme which is related to sustainability which could encompass the various subject areas. For each component of assessment write-up, presentation and launching of the air rockets, rubrics were written and presented to students for their understanding.
