This map will be used to give an overview of the venue , to guide participants to follow the path of the fun run and to provide information to the participants of the location of services such as food stores, bathroom, transportation, language help and medical support.

To communicate effectively with our target audience, I will research and consider these elements in my planning process:

-The primary and secondary audience of this project
- An appropriate colour scheme, the style of the symbol
-Typeface option.

As a venue manager, I will be researching the environment of our chosen area, the Langley Park, on how many kilometers should the fun run be set on and where should we place our food stores at etc. I will also contact the City of Perth council and get permission on using Langley Park for our project.

I think It is important to get permission from the local council even if this event will be held in a public area because:

- Local council can help us to raise awareness of our project
-Local council may get interested in our project and participate in the fun run to gain more fund
-Informing local council in advance about our project so we don’t need to worry about someone else will use the Langley Park on the fun run day.

Although The Shine Night Walk isn’t a similar event of our project, however, they have a successful map design. They have used those casual typefaces rather than times new Rome, the type face is very suitable and appropriate for map design and also appropriate for their target audience, which mainly adults; As their project was held during night time, the map is mainly designed with cool colours such as dark blue for the symbols and the text etc. Lastly, the date of the event and the name of the fundraiser have highlighted on the map, and they have effective symbol design which we can well understand the meaning of the symbols.

In the end we chose Orange as the colour we would focus around, being a warm but still bright and appealing to younger viewers. Then, as a colour to combine with orange we selected blue, as it is the complementary colour and creates a huge amount of contrast, something that works increadibly well to draw a viewers attention!

Using this blog as a guide on creating an effective design, I applied the tips to creating my own. These tips are:

- Alignment and spacing through the use of grid for readability
- Colour heirarchy to define buttons from background and other buttons

I have created differing sets of questions for the adults and children that will be present at the event, with each set catering for the differences in language and interests. Adults:
1. Have you been to many other events of this nature?
2. What draws you to events such as these?
3. Fundraising aside, do you feel that these events are of benefit to the children? And by extension, their families?
4. How does it feel to see the community come together in such a strong way, to raise funds and awareness for such a worthy cause?
5. Is it helpful to have an opportunity for the children to interact and make friends with other kids in the same situation as themselves? Do you see a positive change from these interactions?

These questions are merely an outline of possible ideas. In an actual interview setting, the conversation may flow in a different direction, so that obviously needs to be accounted for. A few good kids stalls include:
Amusement parks - mostly for the older children rides like bumper cars and merry-go rounds.
Badges - An incentive stall for donations with a range of different badges for different donation amounts.
Bubble stalls - Stall where large bubble blowing toys can be bought.
Face painting - kids love to get dirty and this is an acceptable way to do so according to parents, not to mention looking cool.
Treasure hunt - an on going event over the whole day with a stall dedicated to rewarding for the treasures found. Treasures will be placed all round the venue before the events start, during the event every treasure can be returned to the stall and exchanged for a reward.

On the 17th September, 2016, newly founded fundraising organisation Heroes for Hope will be holding their first annual fun run to raise funds and awareness for children living with cancer.

The event will be held at Perth’s Langley Park, with the recently completed Elizabeth Quay as the scenic background of the run.

Opening the gates at 10am, children and their families are encouraged to come along and dress up as their favourite hero/heroine – a character that brings hope and inspiration.

A gold coin donation is necessary upon entry to the venue, and attendees are encouraged to participate in the various events following the run, further contributing to proceeds.

The hosts of the event have an ambitious goal of $10 000.

Heroes for Hope were inspired by the loss of a friend to cancer, which spurred a passion amongst the group to assist in the fight against this epidemic, with a particular focus on children and youths.

Working alongside The Children’s Cancer Foundation, Heroes for Hope are anticipating a strong turn out on the day, so as to hopefully solidify the run as an annual event.
