Ali - Time Riders (By Alex Scarrow)

Dear Mr.Binge,

Hello! I would like to propose a new mandatory reading novel to Y6 English classes: Time Riders by Alex Scarrow.

This book is about a small and secret agency that comes from the future of 2066. It is a time of great innovation, as people now have the technology of time travel. This agency - the Time Riders - was formed to stop people with evil intensions changing time.

This book's genre is exactly the genre that is part of the English curriculum - Dystopian Fantasy. Not only is the book filled with good rhetorical devices such as metaphors and similes, but it can be also used to teach Y6's history, as each book in the series revolves around a main historical happening, from Hitler's Nazi's to Dinosaurs to Civil War to Pompey! It will surely thrill all children and teachers alike.

I hope you think about my suggestion for a new novel for the Y6 Reading classes, as Time Riders by Alex Scarrow is sure to keep everyone excited in the classroom, making the children more productive, and making the atmosphere in the class absolutely amazing!

Dear Mr. Binge,
I would like to show you a book that is unique from every others and I would guarantee that this book is an universe away from the books you've visited before.

As a simple explanation, this book is about stories that introduce famous philosophers and what they have done through thinking about the most unexpected questions that we could not answer within centuries. The most unique part is that this book does not encourage readers to flip through the pages in order! After every eye-catching philosophic story, there is always a category that suggests which chapters you should flip to and explore within. These stories unstably travel between fiction and reality, forcing you to think deeper into our entire existence, even questioning if we actually exist..... or is everything just perhaps.... a supernaturally realistic dream that we are forever hypnotised and trapped in? Or is the universe so big that it's small? Or maybe, we are just imaging all these and coming up with all these unexplainable answers that could entertain us and that it's just our mind wondering around imaging all.... or is it?

What I've included previously must be fairly interesting but this is just a tiny portion of this fantastic book. I strongly suggest you to consider making this one of our "Important Must-Read" books.

Thank you for reading,
Bobby

Hanson - The Da Vinci code

Dear Ms Burrage,
I would like to propose a mandatory book which is quite famous and well known as it is one make as a movie. The book is by Dan Brown and it is called The Da Vinci Code. The book is full of excitement with hidden mysteries all in black and white in the book.

First of all, I need to warn all students that this book contains inappropriate scenes, brutal murders and insulting to some with religious backgrounds. However, I believe that year 6 students are capable of reading this book as they always listen to teachers and basically being nice all the time... (wink. wink)

This book is about a professor of symbology called Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveu having an adventure to seek the truth of the Holy Grail and the secret of Sophie's grandfather's murder. As they travel to uncover the truth, they are chased by police, evil catholic monk and the mastermind known as the 'Teacher'.

The book highlights fictional (maybe real) arcane history of Jesus Christ and the Holy Grail, famous artworks like The Mona Lisa, Last Supper and famous architecture like the Louvre and Rosslyn Chapel. The book is filled with facts that will overwhelm you and you can get a head of a step to understand the history of art and the Europe architecture. The research done that develop the story was pretty impressive as it links to the setting, plot and even the characters, that is very advanced writing.

I hope you will consider my proposal as I assure that it will be a great and exciting book for the students.
