Aim: Learners estimate the cost of products. The teacher sets up shop and give items prices (e.g. carrots for 1 CHF/kilogram). Each learner writes a word problem "I go to the market and buy 3 kgs of carrots, 2 kg of potatoes at 2 CHF a kilo...." and has an answer (done the day before). They memorize their role plays for homework. Then, the next day, half the class are shop keepers and the other half are shoppers. They take turns doing mental math and trying to guesstimate the correct total cost!

To learn the shapes (squares, circles, rectangle, triangles) you can collect items of these shapes and put them on the floor. Then the students get fly swatters (you can decide if everyone gets one or if you switch and only three or four students get one at a time). You say a shape (e.g. square!) and the students have to hit their fly swatter on an object with the right shape.
