It is very difficult to objectively assess student engagement. In my opinion it is not a precise criterion, e.g. Vocational school students are more interested in vocational subjects than general subjects. I would also add a question how innovative is the lesson plan regarding on pedagigical approaches. It is also worth to consider students collaboration, if the instructional time is well balanced between the whole group and small group instruction.

I liked the Learning Designer. I try to do something of this kind in my weekly lesson plan (synchronous and asynchronous lessons) but this tool takes it to a different level. The rubric is certainly going to guide me through the process of designing and planning a learning scenario to my students. The descriptors are clear, and they will also help to review the scenarios of our course peers. So far, nothing to add to the areas and descriptors.

In my opinion the rubric is maybe the best way to evaluate the work of your student and even your own work as well. It provides a large amount of detailed skills and it gives a clear feedback of what your work should look like after finished. In my Romanian literature lesson I will apply the following steps:
1. Lesson preparation (Identifying the specific elements of the lesson - looking for resources, examples of good practices.
2. Teaching planning. Identifying useful teaching applications (platforms, virtual classes, cloud storage).
3. Learning planning (documentary films, books in digital format, digital laboratories)

As most of my colleagues share in this Padlet, the rubric is a very useful tool to guide our work. We can measure our Learning Scenario against this rubric. I have two suggestions though:

1. I think the word “exciting” in what regards Engagement is rather subjective. Who says what exciting is? I can have a different opinion from one of my colleagues and it even differs from culture to culture. I would avoid using this word in a rubric.

2. Also, I think Collaboration is an important area to consider and it’s not present in this rubric.

Let me start to say that I love rubrics. They are the best tool to assess activities like singing/playing, listening, and composing.

So, when looking at this rubric and remember what I’ve read in section 1.3 I miss the the area of personalisation/costumisation ot the learning. To what degree, what evidences, criteria to assess “personalise the learning of their students – that is, to customise learning to each student’s strengths, skills and interests, and create inclusive learning environments by offering a variety of learning paths that could be followed to achieve learning objectives”

I also find that some descriptors are to vague. For instance, what should I look for when assessing the second area “meningful integration”, “mostly meaningful integration”, and “no meaningful integration”?

Using a rubric is always helpful in any process. It helps focus on targets, aims and outcomes and keep different elements in balance. However, collaboration and interaction are two main elements not reported and evaluated in the rubric. Experiential learning and interdisciplinarity are integral elements of contemporary learning methods and I think that they should be included in a learning scenario rubric. Blending learning offers different ways of learning, using propriety software combined with various learning approaches but I thing we must not forget the main axis of searching an learning: experience, live, communicate, create, conclude. Finally, ART is an element that has been proved to affect positively the learning process. Why not include it in our teaching methods?

I like the simple 3 level assessment. And I think that all the important criteria are included. Rubrics are always a good idea, they help learners both in planning the task (to "target" the aim of the activity) and in (self) assessment (to reflect upon the outcomes AND the steps implemented. I agree with most of my colleaues here that it is clear and concise, user-friendly. I also agree with some of them who pointed out that "engagement" may result not objective enough as criterion: what makes a scenario exciting may depend on different perspectives. All the other ccriteria are more "technical". As someone has already written I would have considered descriptors for the personalization or included it in the autonomy area.

I have never come across something similar as Learning Designer. I am truly impressed! As for the rubric, I have always tried to be mindful about all the axes mentioned, but I had not thought about actually producing a rubric like that, so that everythng I do is tangible and easy to evaluate. Perhaps I would add another scale about the extent to which my lesson scenario promotes students' collaboration with each other, because evolving their social skills has always been of importance to me.

I've created and used different rubrics, mostly for assessing book reviews or other types of writing. Creating a rubric can be a bit challenging, but it's worth it, because, among other things, the assessment is made easier and clear. What's more, the students can use it as a guide and see what needs improvement.
