Firstly though, we are alive because chemical reactions occur within our bodies letting us to breathe, grow, reproduce and even feel emotions. This unit will be framed on the global context “Identities and relationships”; it will be focused on the chemistry related to our mental health, giving special relevance to the chemistry of the nervous system, neurotransmitters and emotions. The unit is going to explore the key concept "Systems". Systems are sets of interacting or interdependent components that provide structure and order to a specific process; in this particular case, we will explore the nervous system. On the other hand, by studying the related concept "Consequences" we will emphasize the interdependence among the nervous systems, neurotransmitters and our feelings.
