Robert Hoke is one of the least known but was one of the best Carolinas civil war commanders. Robert had the role of Major general fighting in nearly every Significant battle in the Eastern Theater. He also protected the Weldon railroad, commanded the calvary through expeditions and also served in posts after sickness. Robert believed in slavery serving under the confederacy

Colonel Charles F. Fisher's army had 32,230 confederate soldiers fighting their most famous battle in Virginia at the first battle of Bull Run. North Carolina helped the confederate army forcing the union to retreat, taking control of the Manassas railroad.

Some other battles North Carolina participated in was the Second bull run,Plymouth, Cold Harbor, Fort Fisher, Carolina's campaign, and the battle of bentonville.

In North Carolina ports,Union efforts focused on forcing the sea blockade on the South. Soon Major General Benjamin F. Butler mounted an amphibious assault on the Hatteras Intel forts, forcing surrender. Confederates winning the battle opened up the blockade in the ports making it a very important battle being able to trade through other European countries

North Carolina provided approximately 125,000 men to the confederate Army during the war. They distributed their men into 69 infantry regiments, 4 infantry battalions, 9 cavalry regiments, 9 cavalry battalions, 2 Heavy artillery battalions, 4 artillery regiments, 3 light artillery battalions, 4 light artillery batteries, 4 engineer regiments, 1 sharpshooter battalions, and 4 sharpshooter independent units for the confederacy. The other part of North Carolina provided 2 infantry regiments, 2 mounted infantry regiments, 4 colored regiments, and 1 colored heavy artillery for the union. North Carolina also provided much needed arms from their trade with Europe.

North Carolina had a very important impact in the civil war. North Carolina provided much needed weapons and supplies from Europe, also contributing the most troops with a total of 125,000 troops. North Carolina also participated in many important battles like the 1st bull run, cold harbor, the second bull run, and many others.

General Braxton Bragg

General Braxton Bragg was the most celebrated North Carolina Civil war leader Serving in the Mexican war, soon later becoming brigadier general in the confederate army. After being commander of military forces in Louisiana he was promoted to Major General commanding the Alabama and west Florida forces. He then led these men to the battle of Shiloh commanding the right wing of the mississippi army, losing the battle he fought at the stone river battle, losing again and being relieved from duty.
