-Student not feeling that they can do the assignment; students feel stressed/anxious about the assignment
-No time to do assignment
-Instructors too strict with deadlines, not accepting late work, not flexible
-Assignment is too high stakes
-Students not sure what "counts" as cheating/plagiarism; don't understand that what they are doing might be considered cheating; instructor might assume students know what this means, might talk about it in a policing/negative way
-Assignment might not be meaningful, interesting, relevant, not worth their time to the student
-Assessment practices focused on compliance instead of learning/meeting learning objectives throughout the course

[side notes: Over-policing/monitoring/assuming students are cheating--instructors/staff distrusting of students; consider how individual biases impact this--are some students accused of cheating more often than other student groups? Are instructors/staff more suspicious of certain student groups, assume bad intentions?
