The two have several similarities but present themselves quite differently. For example, the speaker in the lyrical analysis is someone who has experienced a series of ups and downs with an on and off lover and is battling with the relentless push and pull that the relationship brings. On the contrary, the video's speaker is more specific, a knight battling through a series of physical struggles that represent the struggles of an on-and-off relationship, and is spoken to a more specific audience, the woman of his dreams who he is chasing throughout the video. Neither the lyrics nor the video are specific to a certain event, therefore they have no occasion. The fragility of the relationship is built op on physical connection and intimacy. It was just the sex holding the relationship together. The real feelings were never addressed because they were drowned in distracted intimacy.

Seasonal depression had a dramatic effect on the stability of the relationship. Their emotions were even worse in swings with the changes and shifts of life. Their lives were moving away from each other and they were attempting to cope with the cold.

This refers to the speaker's previous ordeals with being the bad guy in relationships and he is used to adopting that label at this stage in the relationship.

This is the speaker directly speaking at the fragility of his trust for her feelings for him in the relationship. He is directly questioning her commitment and her willingness to devote more to the relationship.
