India gained their independence from Britain in1947. One factor that helped India gain their independence was the act of Britain passing them the Indian Independence Act and divided nation into two, India and Pakistan. However that was not simply what happened that helped India gain their independence back, it was mostly through the help of Gandhi. He was an activist who adopted the Non-Violence policy with the aim of achieving a self rule country. Gandhi lead many protests and movements throughout the process which were examples of effect passive-resistance campaigns in protest of Britain’s oppressive rule in India.

Source

Source 2
