Relates to the social studies and art curriculums
It offers multiple mediums (Draw, computer, paint, etc.)
Low floor: a flag can have anything, can be only one expectation or element required
High ceiling: Students can make deeper connections with their flag (ex: Relation to environment of their civilization, uses elements of what makes a good flag that was discussed in class, etc.)

"One of this is not like the other" is a game that can be played with a wide range of topics, and can be accessed by the entire group according to their own level. So it doesn't exclude anyone but also allows for a depth and complexity of thinking.

Establish a firm foundation: Students must know the material before they can climb up Bloom’s! Spend time on Remember and Understand before asking them to make their own version. Language Arts - Persuasive Challenge

Students explore how zoologists use marketing skills by crafting persuasive messages to secure zoo funding. They start by analyzing three audiences families, donors, and politicians. Then they can create their own headlines, paragraphs, and final product (posters, ads, brochures)! The class also has an opportunity to role plays these groups and they get to decide as a whole which one has the most interesting message! - Kourtney and Emma

The Marshmallow challenge

We thought the marshmallow challenge activity could be accommodating to a variety of students. Most students can participate at a basic level, and in groups they can each use their skills to their advantage. We can also add increased levels of challenge such as measurement and physics concepts and points that the students need to hit. Ie it needs to hold this much weight, you need to draw a scale map of it, you can only use this much material etc. These extra challenges can be optional for students to engage in if they feel like they want to extend the activity, or that it is 'too easy'.

Fuzzy Problems - everybody is capable of contributing something. How they show their work, get to their answer, and even their answer can vary. These questions are open-ended and multifaceted enough to stretch in knowledge, thinking, and production.

Think big and then small - One idea we had was that student can use an example of "explain to an alien who just arrived to earth..." and have students get creative with the details they provide on the subject matter, also promotes critical thinking across various subject areas

Using lipogram - type of writing that purposefully leave out a letter(s). This will boost creativity, improve writing skulls and help expand vocabulary.
