I'd often choose to spend time on my phone rather than going outside to hang out with my friends or spending time with my family. I'd be on my phone for hours at a time some days. When I was leaving Poland, I cried and felt really guilty about not spending more time with my family.

This relates to the theme because family is more important than anything. You can buy another phone, but your family is irreplaceable. You never know when you will see them again.

I made up excuses not to go because I was talking to a friend and playing games on my computer, and I was planning on staying home and being lazy all day. Now that school has started, I barely have any time to hang out with my parents because of homework and volleyball.

This relates to the theme because you won't always have time to spend with your family. You should take some time out of your day to be with your family members because you may not have time the next day.
