Behavioral theory explores how rewards affect motivation. In simple terms, it means that our motivation to carry out specific tasks is influenced by the prospect of rewards. Having a prospective reward turns an activity into a strong incentive that increases our desire to repeat activities. In summary, behavioral theory emphasizes how important rewards are in influencing and increasing motivation.

Humanistic theory states that basic needs impact motivation. Fundamentally, all humans are wired to want safety, belonging, and respect. Naturally after those basic needs are achieved we're more motivated to go after bigger and better goals. To summarize, after our fundamental needs (safety net) is met that will help propel our motivation to becoming our best versions of ourselves.

Some tasks can appear intimidating and can lead to a lack of motivation. Breaking down a long and difficult task into small and manageable parts can help spur motivation. Everything that I do I always make a list and work each part systematically until I complete everything I do.

Seeing the value in tasks goes hand and hand with the cognitive theory. When you understand why you are doing something completely it will help you push through to completion.

I think that cognitive theory would be most helpful in maintaining my motivation. I am a much more logical person and I have a strong belief in myself and my own abilities. I like to take on challenges and I always mentally weigh the rewards and consequences on all tasks at hand. I know that in order to go where I need to be for me and for my family I need to gain the knowledge, and complete assignments to gain the skills I need to be successful. The alternative is not an option for me...
