Ethical questions:

1. I would say no, our publication has a different code of conduct than their last school and we are not required to show them the story. It may also delay the publication of the story if the person wasn't satisfied with it.

2. When covering stories that require student insight, we make sure to include students of different backgrounds such as ethnicity, grade, gender, orientation, ability, etc. I think we could improve our publication by having sensitivity training.

What's good:

- I like the colors on the cover, they're very vibrant
- I like the design of the features section. The pink really pops on the pull-quote
- I love the design on the suspension spread. The colored background behind the editorial is very good.
- I love the change in color in the headline on page 16.
-

What could be better:
- All of the photos on pages 6-11 are low quality and there is an error that was never fixed on the infographic on page 11.
- The caption on the infographic on page 11 does not reach to the end of the photo.
-I wish the headline on page 16 reached to the end of the page but it is a nice headline
-repeating paragraphs on page 7
-Bolded page numbers only on the features spread

What we could do:
- Besides peer-review, after all the pages are put together, we should send the final version( the one we would send to print) to all the editors so we can have a final look and make sure everything is correct.
-Always double check images to make sure they're high quality.

I can't think of a favorite Halloween memory so I'll say my favorite costume. This year is my favorite costume! I think this is the most effort I've ever put into a halloween costume by far. Every part of the outfit fits the character and my hair looks absolutely amazing! I love that I put my own spin on it, it's so me but also really the character. I've always dress up for halloween but this costume takes the cake.

I’m not sure how many but I know there’s was a student from Birmingham and another high school in the area.
I think we could really take a safety angle of it in the opinion, how students can be responsible and protect themselves as well as others. In the news story I definitely think we should highlight students and staff opinions about the spread of Narcan in schools, as well as the revival of drug-sniffing dogs.
I think there should be an infographic addressing the misinformation that surrounds this situation.

On The Mirror, I saw a story that said "It's wrong to ignore your right to vote." It made me think of all the teachers here and their different opinion on whether or not they should vote and their reasons. I know teachers can't actually talk about this though but it's definitely become a concern since a lot of younger people are voting, what do the older generations think?

From best of SNO, there was a story called "Are we in danger?”: Community members reflect after antisemitism hits close to home." Maybe a story about how antisemitism from celeberties impacts a younger generation. I know we have a lot of Jewish students, I think so at least.

In these spreads from the High Tide magazine, they use a great mix of simplicity while balancing it out with graphics. On the first page in the first spread, we see a green headline and a black subhead. Theres a visual near the headline that also consists of the same greens and near the bottom of the page we see a violin with a green infographic next to it. It's very simple but simple can be the way to go. The little amount of color really works here. Same goes for the next page. It is simple but the layout is very nice. The colors are grey and purple but they don't complement each other very much. For our magazine, I like the idea of using a little less. I know we use colors a lot but that lack of color here actually looks really nice, we might want to try it sometime.

In the next spread (not shown here), the entire background color is a bluish purple and that color scheme consists throughout the whole page. This spread is relying more on its visuals rather than the words, but they use a goof amount of white space and the visuals are words are placed really nicely so it really works. Theres a large graphic in the middle that has the headline on it, which is gorgeous. This spread is really lovely, I feel like we should do things like this more often. Having a different color background and heavy graphics is something we do for the entertainment section usually but taking it to this level could be really cool.

In the third spread, I think its really cute. On the first page, there are three different stories on the page, all short opinions as well as the letter to the editor on the end. Theres a nice pastel green shown in the headlines and graphics of the page. It all loos really nice, although the headline for the first story is pretty hard to see, which isn't good at all. The words are hollowed out and while that may be okay sometimes, it doesn't work with such a light color of green. Doing something like this, with three stories on one page isn't something I've seen done before much, it would be new waters to venture in. Could be nice.

In this first spread from El Estoque, it uses the elements of the story and ties it into the page design incredibly well. I love the stop sign inforgraphic, the map and the road line going through both pages. I'm not sure where the blue background came from and how it relates to the roads but I actually like it a lot. Doing spreads like this where you incorporate the story into the page itself, not just the cartoons is something we have to try sometimes, it looks great.

In this second spread from El Estoque, it's far more simple than the previous spread. This spread looks along the lines of something we would do but I still like the consistent color scheme across the pages. The cutouts of the teens look really nice and and the graphics are super cute, complementing the heartwarming, nice nature of the story itself. I like the font of the headline but I kind of don't think it's big enough. It doesn't read as the headline as soon as you look at it.

The third spread of El Estoque is really not the best. There's an uncomfortable amount of white space on the second page after the story ends. It's about a third of the page in the third column where there's nothing there. I love the graphics next to the photos on the second page. It's works as a really nice fade from the words of the story in to the photos. We should definitely try this some time. It's a great alternative to just have a square box of a photo of the page (besides the lead photo).

In the this first spread from El Estoque, the graphics are large cut outs but I'm not sure it works. It's pretty interesting. It's sort of the like a double truck, where the graphics and color spread over both pages. In the background theres a large wave of yellow that passes over the first and second page, it's pretty simple but brings a nice pop to the page. The graphic shows someone holding a trophy but another graphic of them faded into the background, reaching out from the second page to the first page. To be honest, I'm not a fan. I like the color on the page of the page but the graphic is an interesting choice.

The second spread from El Estoque is a little wonky to me. On one page, the page is half white, half grey with red boxes as infographics. The other side is just a simple spread the a purple headline, a large pull-quote with purple accents and a blue and gold graduation cap. The tassel on the graduation cap is making a lot of unecessary white space that could've been solved if the editor had text wrapped the words around it, but they can't all be winners. I also don't like how inconsistent the colors are across the whole spread. It doesn't look very good together.
