Vocabulary Activity

Students will have be in pairs, one student will have the vocabulary words of the week, the other student will spell the words out. This will help both students learn and practice vocabulary words with the help of someone else. This helps all students, even below average students as they can be paired with a gifted kid and get additonal support. This also allows extra practice time and not just hearing a lesson be taught out loud, but hands-on learning

Comprehension Activity

For a comprehension activity in the classroom, students will be read a story and then have to draw a picture reexplaining the story. This will check for an understanding of how well students are interrupting the story as well as give them a break from writing so students who struggle with writing (such as ELL students) will be able to feel comfortable answering the question. This also helps students see that art, reading and understanding of text can go hand in hand in the classroom
