Is Athletic South Africa (asa) receiving enough recognition?

I would like to think that all entities of sport is recognized in a country. Some to a larger scale as it is competed regularly across the world. However, I struggle to understand why ASA is not receiving the same amount of visibility as opposed to other sports like soccer, cricket, etc. Football, or soccer, is far and away South Africa's most popular sport. Stastiscally it shows that football in South Africa is played more than any other sport. Can we call that heritage? However, when we compare medals and awards Stastiscally it is clear that the athletes on the track and field are coining. When I say coining, I only speak about silverwear. Although receiving all these achievements and bringing recognition to the country, athletic members of ASA are not receiving the same amount of support from the nation.

The way I see it is that the little media coverage ASA gets is because of all the negative things being written about it’s representatives not forgetting the Oscar situation, Casta “is a man” ya saga and the amount of athletes who fail the doping tests before major events. I will say that on a provincial level athletics is mostly supported be scholars because most events happen at schools with the necessary facilities rather than at those who lack the basic resources to host such an event.
