The new order started at about 1966 (and lasted till 1998). The new order was a time of Suharto's rule, as Indonesia's second president.  
Suharto's New Order found popular support from groups wanting a separation from Indonesia's problems since its independence. 
After the social breakdowns, communal and political conflicts, and economic collapse of the late 1950s-until the mid 1960s-the new order dedicated to achieve and maintain economic development, political order, and the removal of mass participation in the political process.

one of the factors that caused the end of the old order to end was the unfavorable domestic security and the G30S PKI movement. 

Soekarno gave Soeharto a mandate to carry out security activities in Indonesia through a warrant on March 11th. 

 The other factors that caused the end of the old order were the deteriorating economy, the actions taken by the people called the Pancasila Front, the plenary session which failed to find a solution to a big problem.
