My key take away is that when you understand someone's leadership style, you will understand how you can support them in your role without feeling misunderstood or frustrated. We are only as strong as our weakest link and if the leader is weak, the team is weak. If a stakeholder is weak, then the leadership's focus is no longer on meeting the goal but trying to make up for the weakness which causes hard feelings and frustrations.

I also think that we have to be reflective in our current leadership practices and pinpoint next steps to better support colleagues and foster collective growth.

For example, any mindful activities, awards, or thoughtful notes of encouragement that you can send digitally to teachers? I know that my school does the Daily Five for students were there are daily activities for students to complete that promote a positive mindset. I feel that teachers need a daily mindset reset as well to know how essential they are.

My key takeaway was that leadership takes place within the classroom. When I have previously thought about being a leader, I viewed it among colleagues and on professional learning teams but it really begins in the classroom. Applying best practices, setting high standards for my students and using data to drive instruction are where the leadership begins. Within the school, teacher leaders should set an example and be a resource for others, striving to promote collaboration, problem-solving, and on-going learning.

My key takeaway was how important teacher leadership is to education overall. The community and culture of a school must be focused and driven by goals of improving all aspects of the school. Each teacher/leader's strengths should be utilized and celebrated as we work together to promote visions for growth and improvements, as we also focus on becoming our best selves. Leaders must never stop remembering to be learners!
