“I (17 Female) recently got Taylor Swift tickets for her ‘Era’ Tour. Now, as you probably know, it was very difficult to get these tickets and I actually waited 5+ hours in the Ticketmaster queue to get them. I’ve loved Taylor Swift since I was two years old.

My cousin, ‘John’ (29 Male) recently got married to his wife ‘Jane’ (27 Female) and I attended the wedding with my parents.

At the wedding, another cousin of mine asked me whether or not I got tickets and I excitedly said yes.

John overheard and pulled me aside and asked me if there was any chance I’d be willing to give my ticket to his wife as she also tried to get tickets but didn’t manage to get any.

I said that I waited a long time to get my ticket and that I didn’t want to give it up because, as he knows, I love Taylor Swift and I’m really excited about going to the concert with my friends.

He seemed disappointed but ultimately walked away. I went back to my table and thought nothing of it.

Then John and Jane had their first dance, which was to Taylor Swift’s ‘Lover.'

At the end of the dance, he got the microphone and told everyone at the wedding that I had so kindly decided to give Jane my Taylor Swift ticket as a wedding gift.

Jane started crying and said I was the best cousin ever and that I made her wedding day ten times better.

I stood there in shock, and I asked if I could speak to them in private but they ignored me.

My whole family kept coming up to me and saying how mature I was for giving my ticket to Jane.

I told them that I never said I’d give her my ticket and I was planning on keeping it and going with my friends as I had originally planned.

Word got back to John, and Jane actually started sobbing, saying that I was selfish for not giving her my ticket. She said that since I didn’t get her a wedding gift, the least I could do is give her my ticket.

John then said that I’d already seen one of Taylor’s concerts before and that Jane hasn’t so it was only fair that I give her my ticket.John screamed at me to leave and said that I ruined his wedding.

Some of my family has been messaging me saying I’m selfish for ruining Jane’s wedding and I should’ve waited until after the wedding to tell her that I wasn’t giving her my ticket.

Others, including my parents, agree that I had no obligation to give up my ticket.

So, AITA for not just giving her the ticket?

This is something that has happened to me ( an adult male) recently. My son turned into a cockroach yesterday. I am not kidding. I did not know how to react, because how does one react to their son becoming an insect? My wife and daughter have cared for him so far but I have sentenced him to isolation in his room because who knows how that disgusting thing can spread through the house. And I definitely don't need anyone else in my family tuning into insects. I have started to act more hostile toward my son but can you blame me? He looks disgusting. AITA for not letting my cockroach son out?

pg: 17 and 24 exhibit’s me being hostile towards my son.

“I (Gregor’s Mother) recently barged into my son, Gregor’s, room after he didn’t wake up in time for his job, prompting his boss to impatiently knock at the door since he had never been late. When I walked into the room, I “sank down onto the floor” in despair after seeing he had transformed into a cockroach (Pg. 17). I was in shock, I could not believe it. A few weeks later, I decided to go into Gregor’s room with my daughter in order to face my fears and be a good mother. After a few minutes of walking around, we saw “the enormous brown patch” that was my son Gregor. As soon as I realized what it was, I began to scream saying “Oh God, oh God!” and ended up fainting at this terrifying sight (Pg. 42). Naturally, this made my son Gregor very embarrassed and uncomfortable with his appearance, something he could not control.”

So AITA for reacting so harshly at my son’s transformation into a cockroach or should I have tried to be a more understanding and caring mother?

I (Adult Female) live with my husband and two children, Gregor (Adult Male) and Grete (Young Female). Recently my son was transformed into a large vermin. Since then we have kept Gregor locked in his room with his sister taking care of him. Our son was the primary earner of the household, spending his whole life providing for us financially. My husband had an initial outburst towards my son when he saw he had been turned into a large beetle, hitting him with the newspaper and a stick. I worry my daughter has been having a power trip while taking care of Gregor, as she and her father have prevented me from entering the room and she refuses to have anyone else care for Gregor.(Pg. 36) Recently when I was in his room removing some of the furniture to give Gregor more space. When doing so I saw him hanging on the wall and I passed out yelling “Oh God, oh God!” (Pg. 42). AITA for fainting after seeing my son?

Danny/Evan -
I (Female, 55) recently had a crisis with my son. My son Gregor (male, 33) is the only working member in the house, he provided us with all the money to be able to sustain ourselves. He is a hardworking, traveling salesmen(page 2) that is not home often and is constantly working. Recently, he never came out of his room in the morning and was going to miss work for the first time in 15 years. Everyone was worried because if he missed work then we would have no money, and on top of that his boss came to the house to check on him which made us even more nervous. We were trying to wake him up and get him out of his room but he wouldn’t budge, until finally he came out late. He walked out as a human sized bug and it still being early morning my hair was still dishevelled from bed(page 17). My first reaction to seeing my son walk out as a human size was to drop down and put my head down(page 17). I feel bad after but my first reaction to seeing my son turn into a human sized bug is not something i was ever prepared for, so AITA for reacting like that when my only son, who was the only money maker in the household and who wouldn’t be able to work anymore turned into a human sized bug overnight?

My mother (F,old) has recently tried to get closer to me. Recently my sister has started taking all the items out of my bedroom because she believes that it old make me more comfortable to crawl around. I decided to try to protect the only photo frame left in my room to show that I’m still human. My mother walked in and fainted after seeing me. I tried to help but it only made my sister drop the smelling salts. My mother fainted and my sister blamed me (Pg 42). My sister told my father (M,old) it was my fault and he tried to hit me.

I (17 female) woke up to one of the most bizarre things I could ever imagine. My brother (23 male) had transformed into a massive cockroach. At first I was extremely worried, wanting to see what was going on (page 6). Once I saw him, I tried to keep my parents from seeing him, protecting them from him and vice versa. I started helping to make sure he was safe and comfortable, including helping my parents around the house (page 30), but in reality I was happy to be able to contribute to his new life as a cockroach. I have never felt more powerful in my life. Gregor’s whole life is now based on how I treat him, and I’m planning to take away all the furniture in his room, but our mother doesn’t want me to (page 38). AITA for wanting to feel like I'm in control while still helping my brother?

“I (17 Female) recently had a brother (20s Male) who overnight turned into a bug. Our entire family was confused and worried because he was the main provider of our family and that he was not himself. My parents entrusted me to take care of him because they did not want to see him so I was the only one that would enter his room. I recently decided it would be best to remove the furniture from the room because he would not use it and instead he would crawl on the walls. My mother (40s Female) disagreed because she thought that he needed the furniture to remind him of his humanity and identity. Additionally, I did not let my mother see my brother because I didn’t want them to suffer the sight of seeing my brother that way. My father (40s Male) agreed with me but my mother was persistent in seeing him at one point and when she did she fainted at the sight of him.” (pg. 40-42, 35-36)

So AITA for trying to remove the furniture from my brother’s room and preventing my parents from seeing the horror of his appearance?

For the past years my family and I have relied on my son's income since he has a stable job as a businessman and he does not have a family of his own to take care of. Since he can no longer help our family and is now a large bug I have quarantined my son to his room (pg 21). My son is now completely useless to our family. All he does is crawl around his room (pg 39) and I cannot stand to see him anymore. AITA for separating my son from the rest of my family since he is disgusting and useless to us even though he has been our main provider for so long?"

Am I the Antagonist:

I (17 F) neglected my brother to death.

So one day I tried to wake my older brother up (let’s call him G) as I normally do. Being the only one in the family that does anything, he works everyday and makes every dollar this family sees. Anyways, back to the story. This morning was different as he was extremely reluctant to not open the door, but also didn’t respond to me and my parents’ demand to come out. We were worried since he hasn’t missed a single day of work in 15 years!! As the caring sister I am, I went to find a doctor to see if there was something wrong with him(pg 15). I return home and to my surprise when I finally see him, A FLIPPIN FLOPPIN GIANT COCKROACH COMES OUT! DID MY BROTHER GET EATEN!! Whatever that thing is, it is not my brother. I mean, it doesn’t look like him or sound like him. How do I know it even thinks anymore and it's not just some wild animal. My parents are making it MY obligation to take care of him?? I don’t want to spend my days with some gross giant roach. Whatever the case was, I did NOT want my parents near that thing. Idk if Gregor is “gone”, but I feel like I have to take care of the family now. As of now, my father too is careful of how to approach it but my mom is very hesitant in avoiding contact, believing that’s still her son. I can’t let my parents go near him. I even try to help out and move his furniture but the roach has the audacity to stop me from moving this ugly painting in his room, he even made my mother faint(pg 42). Maybe it is Gregor but he’s not our Gregor anymore. We’ve left it alone and haven’t fed it for a few days now. Whatever happens happens. AITA for neglecting this creature?

I (middle aged man) had a bad night and woke up on the wrong side of the bed: I had transformed into a vermin. I had an armour-like back, brown belly, and many legs (1). I (as a traveling salesman) had to travel day in and day out to provide for my family (2). I soon lost my ability to communicate with other people after I gained the abilities of a vermin. I had been a loyal worker for 15 years, but I had to step down from my position. It’s not like I asked for anyone to turn me into this creature and make it hard for me and for my family. My younger sister (female, 17) used to care for me, but now she makes me feel useless so she could find a purpose. My father (male) beats me with a stick and locks me in my room for something that I didn’t have control over. My mother (female), relied on me as I worked and provided for her. She always showed compassion for me and cared for me. Am I the antagonist for not being able to provide for my family anymore?
