For example, we have our own culture thanks to the society in which we live.

What types of dangers do women in Nicaragua face?

Women in Nicaragua have lots of dangers, but the principles are violence, discrimination, limited access to education

What did you like about the novel? What didn´t you like?

What I liked was his poetic style, and the exploration of themes such as identity, culture, and the search for one's voice. What I didn't like was the sad and defiant tone, because the play deals with the struggle and difficulties of the protagonist in her environment, as something melancholic or defiant.

1.- What is a recurring theme in The House on Mango Street?

Oppression of women

2.- Why does Esperanza ultimately promise to return to Mango Street?

To vow for those who can´t leave.

3.- Describe one of the characters in the novel

Sally is one of best friends of esperanza. Esperanza thinks that Sally is gorgeus because all the men wants to be with her. Sally is a beautiful girl with a long and black hair, with eyes like an egipt.

4.- In your life, what "roots" can you identify?

In our daily lives, there are several ´´roots´´ however, it is known that for any person everything begins in their childhood since it makes us know how they grew up over time.

5.- What types of dangers do women in Nicaragua face?

Most of the women in Nicaragua suffer the sexual division of labor, choices about motherhood and union, low self-esteem and lack of confidence, as well as gender violence.

6.- What did you like about the novel? What didn´t you like?

What we currently like is its ease of transmitting the feeling of a person with the real world, how she grow physically and mentally until they find a moment in which they will completely understand their surroundings and her life. What we didn't like was perhaps the redundancy that it usually has in some chapters.
