Have students practice reciting nursery rhymes listening for the rhyming words.</p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 2</p><p>Move a block for each sound you hear in the word.</p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 3</p><p><br/></p><p>Have students make an alphabet picture book. Have students take pictures of items that begin with the letter A. Then continue on with the photos up to the letter Z.</p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 4</p><p>Rhyming bingo game, students can listen to the rhyme and see the picture then find a matching word that rhymes with picture and cover that spot.</p>]]></description>

It is a free site and students can access the site at home on a tablet or phone. Students could touch a letter tile and the site would say the letter. Students could also learn to distinguish upper and lower case letters. There are also stories and songs for students to read and listen to.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Word Tree Prefixes and Suffixes. After students have been taught about Prefixes and suffixes. Place the root  word on the trunk of the tree, Then place Prefixes on the left and suffixes on the right. Use the tree as a reference for students to refer back to. You can also have students work together to make words.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 2</p><p>Make anchor charts with students. Hang them in the room for reference.</p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 3</p><p>Scavanger Hunt-students in small groups each group has prefixes/suffix. Then students will go a hunt to find words they can look in books, magazines etc.. Students will make a list of found words and use them in a sentence. </p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 4</p><p>Build a word with legos-base words, Prefixes, and suffixes written on Legos.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Build a sentence. Students will look at picture posted on the smartboard. Teacher will ask what do you see. Teacher will write responses on the whiteboard around the picture. There will be nouns verbs and adjectives. Once all of the words have been written have students write a sentence. </p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 2</p><p>Jenga game in color cubes. Have students read a question and give a response or read a word. </p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 3 </p><p>Sentence scramble have students put the words in a correct order to form a sentence.</p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 4</p><p>Roll a story. Students use a dice and a given worksheet to roll a story. Whatever number the dice lands on is the character, then a setting and then a problem and students have to put the story together using their own words.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

Have students draw a picture of the idiom. Use the idiom in a sentence. </p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 2</p><p><br/></p><p>Vocabulary Power-Students will roll a dice and then for 1 they will say the word, for 2 name one or more synonyms, for 3 draw its meaning, for 4 say its meaning in your own words, for 5 name the part of speech (verb,noun, adjective, or adverb). Teacher will provide a vocabulary word list.</p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 3</p><p>Have students play Headbanz game with each other in a small group. Teacher can put in vocabulary words. Students would have to guess what the word is by the other students giving clues.</p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 4</p><p>Compound word puzzles-student could work on putting compound words together with a pictoral support. Teacher would have compound words and their pictures together and students would make the word and tell the word once it was put together.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

While the parent is reading have the child listen for a word that is different or new to them. Parent can stop and have child write the word down in their vocabulary journal. When the story is over parent and child can discuss the word and find the word meaning in the dictionary or through clues in the story or they can look it up online. Then the student can write a definition for the word in their own words in there journal</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Story telling is a great way to teach pragmatics. As you read you can change your voice to show how the character is feeling or what they think the character would sound like. Using facial expressions to show the feelings in the story. </p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 2</p><p>Dramatic Play allowing your student to pretend to be a veterinarian and having pets they can do check ups on. Allowing the child to be imaginative and role playing will allow them to use different types of language and conversation starters.</p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 3</p><p>Having students paint and describe what they are painting. Allowing student to illustrate their own story and add words to their story. Then having them come up and share what they wrote about with their friends.</p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 4</p><p>Play sports games during outdoor time, like soccer or red light green light. Students have to be able to follow directions and talk about what is going to happen next and make plans and how to get to the end point or to score a goal.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

This will allow ELL students to speak about the rules. They would have to engage in the game and it would be a fun learning game. Candyland for the younger students this would get the student counting and learning colors as well as following directions.</p>]]></description>
