My name is Indira Graham and I come from both Indonesia & Canada. Spending my childhood in Indonesia has allowed me to compare & contrast the differences of both Canadian & Indonesian cultures, including the games I played as a child. My favorite childhood game is called "Congklak". The game is played between two people and the objective of the game is for the players to get the most shells in their storehouses. The wooden board that Congklak is played in consists of two roles with seven holes called houses and two even bigger houses called storehouses. Each player is given 35 shells (5 shells for each house) and may move in any direction.

If my students ever have disputes or need to decide who goes first they will always play Janken. http://jet.wikia.com/wiki/Janken

I am Elizabeth and I live in Utah in the United States. I like to play games like tag, hide and go seek, and a game I made up called pit stop. I play with other kids in my neighborhood. We usually play in a grassy area by our houses. In tag someone is IT and they chase the other kids and try to touch them. If they touch them, then the person who they touched is IT. In hide and go seek, someone is IT and counts to a certain number while the other kids hide. In pit stop, we choose characters to be and pretend to be them. At school, we play hopscotch, where you hop from 1 foot or 2 or other games we make up.

Hi Coby! I teach in California, US. My 5th grade students love to play four square (I am from the UK, and I am not sure I completely understand the rules yet!) and they LOVE to play basketball too. Inside, we had great fun playing board games this year, such as Settlers of Catan, or Uno.

Hi Coby! I've just moved to Vancouver and haven't worked out what the children here play. However, in the UK one of the best games was played in the Autumn called "Conkers". Two people can play and you use the seeds of horse chestnut trees. The seeds (conkers) have a piece of string threaded through (with parental help) and you basically take turns striking each other's conker until one breaks.

Unfortunately though this game has been banned in lots of schools since about 2004 as people were concerned that the conkers were weapons or causing nut allergies (although medics believe this to unlikely). It was always an exciting time waiting for the autumn and finding the best, hardest conker - they even had British championships !

Photograph by Mirrorpix
