The poem is, as the title says, about accepting and appreciating yourself. The line, “I harbor for good or bad, I permit to speak at every hazard, ” is a prime example. The narrator describes that we all have the capability to be good or evil, which is something to be celebrated.

The poem states," I lean and loaf at my ease observing a spear of summer grass." Because of the imagery, we are given a carefree and warm tone from the pom. One reason for this is because of his actions as he states that he is lean and loaf. He states this to tell us that he is free and as a result, has the ability to gaze at the summer grass. In addition, by telling us about the summer grass, we are giving this warm tone as we often associate summer with relaxation.
