The recipient of a bachelor's degree in business administration from Sojourner Douglass College, Alesia Watson graduated summa cum laude from the school in 2000, and subsequently joined Atlantic City Housing Authority in Atlantic City, New Jersey. As acting executive director of the authority, Alesia Watson oversaw annual budgets and special reports, and assisted the board in site selection and the hiring of architects, appraisers, and surveyors. She served 7 years in this capacity before joining Youth Advocate Programs, Inc., as program director.

In this role, Alesia Watson ensured clients received appropriate services and helped facilitate staff development opportunities. She was also active in new project and initiative development and, to that end, launched a statewide youth basketball program. She later served 4 years as executive director of Ocean City and Brick Housing Authorities and, since 2018, has worked as a network distribution representative with the Community Food Bank of NJ.

Alesia Watson has continued to expand her education throughout her career. She completed Public Housing Manager for Local Public Housing Authorities and Registered Public Purchasing Specialist certificate programs in the early 2000s and, in 2010, obtained an MBA from American Intercontinental University. Outside of her professional endeavors, she acts as a consultant to In My Care Mentoring Programs and is a former chairperson for Services for Youth and Links Incorporated.
